- How the Exemption Works: Under Rule 4.3b(1) (Medical Exception), the USGA explicitly allows the glove to be used by players who have been diagnosed with an arthritic or other medical condition that impacts their ability to grip the club. To use the glove legally during a regulated round, a player must simply request a permit from their local club or tournament Committee.
